An urban garden sprouted in Beaumont almost ten years ago, promoting sustainability and removing processed foods from homes and soup kitchens alike.
Ten years in the making, the one-acre plot of land across from St. Anne Catholic School has been transformed into a donation garden for local soup kitchens, including Market to HOPE, Some Other Place in Beaumont and the Hospitality Center in Port Arthur.
The Giving Field will be financially self-sustainable through a "Farm Fresh to You" program. Modeled after community gardens in Houston, Austin, and New Orleans, the development of the Beaumont garden will come in seven phases.
